Rod grew up on a farm in Fulton, Ill. He was called to the ministry in high school, and he did his undergraduate work at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. He went on to obtain a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, N.J. Before coming to CPC in September 2006, Rod served as Pastor for Care Ministry for the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, Pa. Prior to that, he served in Atlanta as Pastor and Head of Staff for Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, as interim pastor for the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, and as Associate Pastor for Peachtree Presbyterian Church, the largest church in our denomination.

Rod has pursued extensive training in pastoral and congregational care, including postgraduate work in the area of pastoral counseling and marriage and family therapy. He is a trainer for Healthy Congregations, a program that promotes healthy functioning and conflict management within the church community. Rod is married to Marsae, a native Georgian and professional interior designer. They have a daughter Christina. Rod loves the outdoors and can often be found in his spare time kayaking or working in his yard.

Betty grew up in Raeford, NC, and has served at Second Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, MD, before coming to us. She graduated from the University of NC at Greensboro and the Ecumenical Institute of Theology of St. Mary's Seminary & University, Baltimore, MD, with a Master of Art in Theology. She has taught workshops for the Baltimore Presbytery, Coastal Carolina Presbytery, retreat centers and other church groups. She came to Pinehurst November 1, 2000. Betty had identical twin daughters, Kelly and Caroline. Kelly died in 1998. Her sister graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Family Services. Betty lives in Whispering Pines with her dog, Sneakers, and her cat, Jemimah.

Barbara is from Toronto, Ohio.  She majored in business and human resources, and was Chair and Director of the Information Management System for Home Health at Trinity Health Care.  Barbara volunteered for 15 years as a youth leader at Hilltop Presbyterian church, Steubenville, Ohio, teaching and leading small groups, organizing retreats and mission work for the youth.  She is a trained director of Youth Club (Logos) and served in that position in the Steubenville Methodist Church Steubenville, Ohio, for two years.  She also served on the Christian Education Committee of Ohio Valley Presbytery.  Barbara resides in Pinehurst with her husband Roy.

Margo is in her ninth year of ministry with CPC. Margo has been directing music since her childhood when she would play at directing her own family. A military child, Margo was born in Montgomery, Ala., but spent her formative years around the world, including Iran, Mississippi, and Hawaii. She has degrees in piano and church music from the University of Montevallo, Montevallo, AL, and Samford University, Birmingham, AL.

Outside of her work, Margo enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and watching forensic television.

A native of Moore County, Terri Sinclair says she always knew her career would be in music. She serves as Director of Choral Activities at Coastal Carolina University but says her work at CPC is the source of her spiritual fulfillment. She has degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Florida State University, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Terri lives in Pinehurst with her husband, retired Col. John J. Galland of the U.S. Army.

Dorothy has been the church organist for CPC since 1964.  She plays the organ and the piano for the 9:00 worship service, as well as for weddings, funerals and other special occasions. 

She majored in church music at Greensboro College.  Dorothy, a native of Moore County, teaches piano privately at her home in Southern Pines.

Betty has served as staff accompanist for CPC since 2000. She is a graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Laurinburg, NC, where she earned a Bachelor of Music Degree. She also holds graduate degrees in Early Childhood Education and Educational Administration from UNC Pembroke. Betty's 30-year career in education has included teaching kindergarten through college levels. In the area of music, she has taught in the public schools, taught private piano lessons, served as church organist, and directed children's, adult and hand bell choirs. In addition to her employment at CPC, Betty volunteers weekly at both First Health Hospital and at Quail Haven Retirement Center where she plays piano. She is presently a practicing Stephen Minister through the Southern Pines United Methodist Church.

After more than twenty years with CPC, Sally still revels in her work as office manager because she enjoys helping people.

A native of Southern Pines, Sally lives in her childhood home with her husband of 33 years. She is mother to two accomplished adult children, and when she’s not at church, you can catch her reading, taking a walk, or heading to the beach.

Over 30 years in the Atlanta area, Davina left the newspaper industry to care for her aging parents who live in Southern Pines.  A mother of 5 daughters, and grandmother of 5, she enjoys cooking, gardening and painting.

Margie has been with CPC since moving from Pennsylvania five years ago. She and her husband Steve are songwriters of contemporary Christian music. Their company Praise Storm has produced two CDs made up of their own music.

She and Steve have six grown children who live as close as Pinehurst and as far away as Costa Mesa, Calif.

Since 2001 Mary has been employed at Community Presbyterian Church. She worked full-time as Receptionist/Facilities Coordinator and now is part-time as Office Assistant. She helps in the Nursery and has worked with the Youth Program. Mary has three children and one grandson. Her son, Darel lives in Myrtle Beach, SC with his wife, Wiebke. Her daughter, Darla, lives in Moncks Corner, SC with her husband Layne. Her daughter, Dana, and grandson, Troy, live in Conway, SC.

Her past employment includes working as Personal Secretary to President of Stilley Plywood Manufacturing Co., Inc. and Administrative Assistant to the Vice-President of Nursing at Conway Hospital, Inc.

Mary’s statement: “On my journey, I feel that God directed me here. God’s love has been demonstrated through so many friends and I am so thankful to be a part of CPC.”

Al was raised and has lived in Pinehurst all his life.

He has two children – Amanda and Matthew. Al and his wife Beverly were married at CPC a few years ago. He is also employed by the Village of Pinehurst Fire Department as a Commander and has been with them since 1981. He works part time with CPC as the property manager. His hobbies are fishing, woodworking and walking his dog Bear (a miniature schnauzer).
